World languages at Boulder Knoll are provided by the generosity and gifts of our current parents. The goal of weekly language circles is to expose children to different languages, to provide them with opportunities to hear and speak a different language, and build an understanding of the diversity of our community. Over the past thirty years, Spanish, German, French and Mandarin Chinese have been taught at Boulder Knoll. Weekly circles connect to our classroom curriculum and are reinforced by carefully crafted individual practice activities found in the classroom. Parent-led enrichment activities outside of language circles have also exposed children to Russian, Hebrew, Telugu and Hindi. Our community lunches often find children sharing words used at home in different languages. At Boulder Knoll, we aim to foster a warm embrace of the multi-lingual world in which we live.
